The Municipal Chief Executive for South Tongu, Victoria Dzeklo, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to economic transformation and local development during the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a modern 24-hour market at Dabala. Addressing a large gathering of residents, traders, traditional authorities and party supporters, Hon. Dzeklo described the project as a major milestone that would boost commerce, create employment opportunities and improve livelihoods within the municipality.
Speaking passionately at the event, the MCE noted that the 24-hour market initiative forms part of broader efforts to stimulate economic activities in the area and position Dabala as a thriving commercial hub in the Volta Region. She emphasized that the market would provide a safer and more organized trading environment for market women, farmers and small-scale business owners while enhancing local revenue generation for development projects.
Hon. Victoria Dzeklo further urged the contractor handling the project to ensure quality work and timely completion to meet the expectations of the people. She also appealed to residents and stakeholders to support the construction process and protect the facility when completed.
According to her, the successful execution of the market project would open new doors for economic growth and attract more investment into the municipality.
The ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including local government officials, assembly members, traditional leaders and community members who expressed excitement over the initiative. Many traders at the gathering welcomed the project, saying the new market would help expand business activities and ease congestion in existing trading spaces within the township.
The sod-cutting event marks the official commencement of work on the highly anticipated market project, which is expected to become one of the key commercial facilities in the South Tongu Municipality. Residents believe the development will not only improve trading conditions but also strengthen economic activities in Dabala and surrounding communities for years to come.
