On Friday, 19th June 2026, Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, Member of Parliament for South Tongu, hosted approximately 100 members of the National Union of Tongu Students and Associates (NUTSA) at the Parliament of Ghana. The delegation, led by the Union’s National President, Mr. Daniel Eblugbor, undertook an educational visit aimed at enriching the students’ knowledge of leadership and democratic governance.
The visiting group comprised students from Senior High Schools, basic schools, and tertiary institutions across the three Tongu districts. Their engagement at the legislature provided a valuable opportunity to observe parliamentary proceedings firsthand and interact with elected representatives, fostering a deeper appreciation for the workings of Ghana’s democratic institutions.
Accompanied by his colleagues from the Volta Region Hon. Gabby Roosevelt Hottordze, Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzra, Hon. Edem Kofi Kpotosu, and Hon. Kpeli Worlase Hon. Lukutor presented a donation of GHC 11,000 to support NUTSA’s educational activities. In addition, the Volta Caucus contributed GHC 5,000 through the South Tongu MP, bringing the total support to GHC 16,000.
The generous gesture underscores the commitment of Volta Region parliamentarians to youth development and education. The funds are expected to play a significant role in enhancing the Union’s programmes, empowering students to become more active participants in national development.
Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor commended the leadership of NUTSA for organising the insightful visit and expressed appreciation to all the students for their discipline, active engagement, and demonstrated interest in parliamentary democracy. He encouraged them to continue pursuing academic excellence while contributing positively to their communities and the nation at large.
