The Parliamentary Select Committee on Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs, chaired by Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has received a comprehensive briefing from the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, and senior officials of the Ministry on the implementation of the government’s flagship Feed Ghana Programme and preparations for the ongoing farming season.

Discussions during the meeting centred on several key interventions designed to strengthen agricultural value chains and enhance national food security. These include the establishment of Farmer Service Centres across the country, the National School Farm Initiative (NSFI), expansion of irrigation infrastructure, the Mobile Feed Ghana Brigade, promotion of backyard poultry and vegetable production, and other strategic measures aimed at boosting productivity.

The Minister commended Chairman Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw for his dedicated leadership and steadfast support in advancing the rollout of Farmer Service Centres nationwide.

In response, Dr. Jasaw applauded the Ministry’s ongoing efforts and urged sustained commitment to the successful implementation of these initiatives. He emphasised the importance of enhancing agricultural productivity, improving food security, and generating sustainable employment opportunities for the youth.

The Feed Ghana Programme continues to serve as a cornerstone of government efforts to transform Ghana’s agriculture sector and ensure long-term food self-sufficiency.
