The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has ordered all prospective parliamentary aspirants to immediately cease any activities resembling early campaigning. Issued by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) on Tuesday, September 15, the directive targets individuals organizing unauthorized constituency tours, public appearances, donations, and targeted meetings prior to the formal opening of nominations. Party leadership stressed that these unapproved engagements risk undermining organizational cohesion and distracting from the party's broader strategic focus.
In a official statement signed by General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, the FEC warned that non-compliance will carry firm consequences. Prospective candidates who ignore the mandate face severe disciplinary sanctions in accordance with the NDC Constitution. To enforce the mandate across all operational levels, Regional, Constituency, and Branch executives have been instructed to monitor local activities, ensure full adherence, and report any infractions directly to party authorities.
The NDC reassured its membership that official guidelines and the timeline for opening parliamentary nominations will be announced at the appropriate time. Reaffirming its commitment to a transparent, orderly, and credible candidate selection process, the party urged all prospective aspirants and supporters to exercise restraint, respect established protocols, and prioritize internal unity.
