Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has emerged as the frontrunner in the latest Global InfoAnalytics survey assessing potential flagbearers for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2028 presidential election.
According to data released on Monday, September 14, 2026, by Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Dr. Ato Forson gained 10 percentage points over his July standing, rising from 22% to 32%.
Meanwhile, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia experienced a four-point dip, moving from 27% in July to 23%, leaving him nine points behind the Finance Minister.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson: 32% (up from 22%)
Johnson Asiedu Nketia: 23% (down from 27%)
Undecided Delegates: 28% (down from 30%)
Haruna Iddrisu (Minister of Education): 5% (down from 6%)
Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang (Vice President): 4% (down from 7%)

Eric Opoku (Minister for Food & Agriculture): 1% (unchanged)
The survey highlights Dr. Ato Forson as the only major contender to see a double-digit increase since the last poll. Despite his momentum, the contest remains fluid: 28% of delegates surveyed refused to pick a candidate, representing a slight drop from the 30% recorded in July.
The survey gathered responses from 3,615 NDC delegates between September 11 and September 13, 2026. The results carry a 99% confidence level with a margin of error of ±2.17%.
While current results show a clear shift toward Dr. Ato Forson, the high percentage of undecided delegates indicates that candidates still have significant ground to gain before the internal party elections.
