Akatsi College of Education has achieved a historic milestone as Mumuni Nihad was elected the first-ever female President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC). Her victory ends decades of male dominance in student leadership and marks a significant step toward greater representation and inclusion on campus.
Nihad secured the top position after a closely contested election against Atigah Richard and Shine Anani Dzata. Students across the college rallied behind her, seeing her win as clear evidence that women can rise to the highest levels of decision-making when given the opportunity.
The result has sparked widespread celebration among the student body. Many have hailed the election as a powerful moment for gender inclusion and youth leadership at Akatsico, opening a new chapter in the institution’s history.
As she prepares to take office, Nihad faces the important task of turning her campaign promises into concrete action. Her administration is expected to prioritize the welfare, interests, and aspirations of the entire student community while building on this landmark achievement.
