Inmates at Koforidua Local Prison Complete First Aid and Emergency Care Training

Twenty-eight(28) inmates at the Koforidua Local Prison have been equipped with lifesaving skills following a First Aid training session on August 26, 2026.

​The workshop was led by Supt. Magnusen, a Physician Assistant at the Koforidua Prison Community Health Center. The initiative aimed to ensure participants can handle sudden medical emergencies and offer crucial care while waiting for medical personnel to arrive.

​Encouraging full commitment during the program, the Officer-in-Charge, ADP. Francis Agyirey Kwakye, highlighted the value of these skills, noting that the knowledge gained will serve the inmates well both during their time in facility and after their release.

​The hands-on training focused on Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Participants were also guided on core safety procedures, recognizing the limits of their training, keeping accurate incident records, and conducting post-emergency debriefs.
