Hon. Sebastian Deh Launches "Operation Light Up the Streets" to Enhance Security and Economic Activity Across Kpando

2 min read

The Member of Parliament for Kpando Constituency, Hon. Sebastian Deh, officially commenced the distribution and installation of street lights on Saturday, 6th September 2025. The project, dubbed "OPERATION LIGHT UP THE STREETS OF KPANDO CONSTITUENCY," marks a decisive step toward modernizing urban infrastructure and ensuring safer communities across the constituency.

The rollout began with an energetic first phase targeting several high-traffic areas and major educational institutions. Key zones including Tsakpe Newtown, the Main Station, Taxi Rank, Kpasec, Bishop Herman College, and Adofe were equipped with brand-new, high-efficiency LED street lights. The strategic selection of these initial locations ensures that both busy transit hubs and sensitive academic environments benefit immediately from improved illumination.

Beyond improving aesthetic appeal, the initiative is specifically designed to boost visibility along major roadways and public gathering points. Enhanced lighting plays a vital role in crime prevention, allowing residents, commuters, and traders to navigate the constituency with greater peace of mind after dark. By replacing dim or non-functioning lights with modern LED technology, the project provides a sustainable and reliable solution to nighttime safety concerns.

A primary driver behind "Operation Light Up the Streets" is the revival and expansion of Kpando's local commercial landscape. Adequate street lighting directly supports small businesses, vendors, and transport operators who rely on late-hour trading. Improved visibility encourages evening commerce, prolongs market activity, and fosters a vibrant, secure environment for both consumers and business owners.

Hon. Sebastian Deh reaffirmed that this first phase is merely the beginning of a constituency-wide transformation. The distribution process will continue systematically over the coming days and weeks to ensure that every community, neighborhood, and enclave within the Kpando Constituency is adequately illuminated, leaving no area behind.
