Hon. Sebastian Deh and Kpando MCE Host Technical Team for New Regional Fire Service Training School and Torkor Post

2 min read

In a major step toward enhancing emergency response infrastructure in the Volta Region, the Member of Parliament for Kpando, Hon. Sebastian Deh, together with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), hosted a high-level technical delegation to initiate preliminary groundwork for key regional safety projects. The visit marks the official commencement of site assessments and planning for a proposed Regional Training School for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Kpando, alongside a strategic fire service post situated at Kpando-Torkor.

The establishment of the Regional Training School aims to transform Kpando into a strategic hub for emergency services training and tactical operations across the region. Once completed, the facility will provide specialized training modules, capacity-building programs, and modern fire safety instruction for service personnel and recruits. Local authorities emphasized that bringing an institution of this scale to the municipality will not only bolster public safety readiness but also inject vital socio-economic growth into the surrounding communities.

Simultaneously, the proposed fire service post at Kpando-Torkor addresses critical operational needs for one of the municipality's busiest commercial and transit points. As a major inland port along Lake Volta, Kpando-Torkor handles significant daily economic traffic, making rapid-response capabilities essential for safeguarding lives, property, and maritime operations. The dedicated post will dramatically reduce emergency response times for the lake community and neighboring farming enclaves.

Hon. Sebastian Deh expressed deep gratitude to the technical team and reaffirmed his commitment to driving impactful development across Kpando. He noted that securing modern safety facilities remains central to the constituency’s broader development agenda, ensuring that both economic hubs and residential areas are adequately protected. The technical team will now synthesize site measurements and operational feasibility data into a final roadmap to guide construction phase rollout.
