Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu has handed over a newly constructed solar-powered borehole water system to Anfoega Senior High School (ANFOESEC) in the North Dayi District. The facility forms part of his flagship “Water for All” initiative aimed at providing reliable clean water to schools and communities across the Volta Region.ce1afe
The system features a 10,000-litre capacity storage tank with eight fetching points and is powered by a hybrid setup of solar energy and the national electricity grid. This design ensures steady water supply even during power interruptions, addressing long-standing challenges that affected teaching, learning, and daily campus life at the school.
The handover took place in connection with the school’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Hon. Gunu inspected the project alongside North Dayi District Chief Executive Hon. Ernest Adevor, the Member of Parliament and other officials.
School authorities, students, and local stakeholders welcomed the intervention as a major relief that will improve health, reduce time spent fetching water, and create a better environment for academic excellence. The project underscores ongoing government efforts to complete stalled infrastructure and expand access to essential services in Volta Region schools.
