2 min read

Liati Wote, one of Ghana’s most cherished treasures and home to the iconic Mount Afadja (Afadjato) and Tagbo Falls, was hit by a severe and violent rainstorm on Friday, 28th February 2025. The devastating storm left a trail of destruction across the community, displacing several families, destroying properties, and severely damaging key infrastructure, including the central Community Meeting Centre.

Demonstrating swift leadership and deep empathy, Hon. Frank Afriyie, alongside his Constituency Executives and a specialized team from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), visited Liati Wote on Monday, 3rd March 2025. During the visit, the delegation engaged directly with the Chiefs, Elders, and affected residents to assess the full extent of the damage and listen to the immediate concerns of the victims.

To offer timely support, Hon. Afriyie presented a cash donation to provide immediate assistance to the hardest-hit families as they begin to rebuild. Beyond the initial support, he reassured the community of his steadfast commitment to working closely with NADMO and relevant government agencies to secure additional relief supplies and establish a long-term recovery plan.

Highlighting the broader significance of the area, Hon. Afriyie emphasized that Liati Wote is a vital cornerstone of the local tourism economy, welcoming thousands of visitors annually to its breathtaking natural landmarks. Restoring stability to the community is crucial not only for the welfare of its residents, but also for preserving the district’s rich cultural heritage and economic vitality.
