Eastern Regional Fire Command Begins Deployment of Automated Safety System (AFCAS)

1 min read

The Eastern Regional Fire Command officially started deploying the Automated Fire Compliance and Safety System (AFCAS) on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Held at the Regional Headquarters, the training initiative was led by Mr. Mawuli Babanawu, Mr. Ellis Ashie, and Mr. Selorm Abrantie. This exercise builds on a broader nationwide project that has already trained 983 officers across five regional commands.

AFCAS modernizes the traditional paper-based inspection process into a faster, fully transparent, technology-driven workflow.

To prepare for the transition, officers received specialized training on custom devices and were divided into four operational roles: Certification Officers, Secretariat Officers, Zonal Inspection Officers, and Tagging Officers.

Under the leadership of ACFOII Emmanuel Ofori Asamoah, the Command is committed to upgrading fire safety operations across the region. Once fully operational, AFCAS will streamline service delivery, promote data-guided decision-making, optimize revenue tracking, and significantly boost public safety standards across the Eastern Region.
