The Concerned National Service Personnel Association has issued a stern warning to the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA), demanding full accountability and refund of monies allegedly deducted from the allowances of national service personnel. The deductions, reportedly made for a capacity-building programme, have sparked widespread discontent among service personnel across the country. In a strongly worded statement, the group accused NASPA of failing to provide transparency regarding the utilisation of the funds and has given the association exactly two weeks to address the matter or risk facing legal action.
According to the Concerned National Service Personnel Association, the deductions were effected without adequate consultation or clear communication to the affected personnel, raising serious questions about due process and fiduciary responsibility. Service personnel, many of whom rely heavily on their monthly allowances for basic needs, have expressed frustration over what they describe as unauthorised deductions. The group emphasised that any capacity-building initiative should be voluntary and transparently managed, not imposed through compulsory cuts from meagre stipends.
The association has vowed to pursue all necessary legal avenues, including court action, if NASPA fails to account for the funds and effect refunds within the stipulated two-week period. Stakeholders in the National Service Scheme are closely monitoring the situation, with calls for the relevant authorities to intervene and ensure the protection of service personnel’s rights. This latest development highlights ongoing concerns about governance and accountability within associations representing national service personnel in Ghana.
