The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Anloga District Assembly, Hon. Sandra Seyram Kpedor, has intensified efforts to address the growing flooding crisis by personally touring affected communities along the Keta Lagoon Complex. With water levels continuing to rise, the DCE’s on-the-ground assessment aims to evaluate the extent of damage to infrastructure, education, and livelihoods in the district.
At Fiahor AME Zion Basic School, Hon. Kpedor engaged directly with the Headmaster, Mr. Gakpetor, who revealed that persistent flooding has compelled the suspension of Kindergarten classes starting Monday, June 29, 2026, until water levels recede. The visit highlighted the severe impact on young learners and the urgent need for intervention to restore normal academic activities.
Although briefed earlier by the District NADMO Directorate, the DCE emphasized the importance of firsthand evaluation to fully understand the challenges facing residents. She assured the school authorities and community members of the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to tackling the situation effectively and promptly.
During the tour, Hon. Kpedor revisited the deteriorating Kome road and extended her assessment to the Atito community and the Xenui road, both of which have been significantly affected by the flooding. These visits underscored the widespread disruption to transportation networks and daily mobility in the area.
Hon. Kpedor reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to collaborating with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other key stakeholders. The focus remains on delivering immediate relief to impacted residents while developing sustainable, long-term solutions to mitigate the recurring floods that continue to threaten education, livelihoods, and infrastructure across the Anloga District.
