The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has taken a significant step toward bridging Ghana’s digital skills gap by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ghana Digital Centres (GDC). The partnership will deliver high-quality, Microsoft-accredited training to 2,000 young Ghanaians in Graphic Design, Web Design, and Data Analytics. This initiative positions Ghana as a key beneficiary in a larger continental programme, securing 2,000 out of the total 3,000 training slots available across participating countries.
Under the agreement, participants will receive comprehensive training designed to equip them with future-ready competencies demanded by today’s job market. The programme focuses on practical, industry-relevant skills that will enable young Ghanaians to thrive in the digital economy. Upon successful completion, trainees will earn globally recognized Microsoft certifications, enhancing their employability both locally and internationally.
A standout feature of the initiative is the provision of paid internship opportunities for 600 outstanding beneficiaries. These internships will offer real-world experience, allowing top performers to apply their newly acquired skills in professional settings while building valuable networks and portfolios. The structured pathway from training to internship underscores the programme’s commitment to translating skills development into tangible employment outcomes.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, YEA CEO Malik Basintale reaffirmed the Agency’s dedication to youth empowerment. He emphasized the importance of equipping young Ghanaians with relevant digital competencies to drive sustainable employment and national development. The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Malik Basintale and Mr. Dzifa Gunu, CEO of Ghana Digital Centres, highlighting a shared vision between the two institutions.
This collaboration marks a promising milestone in Ghana’s efforts to prepare its youthful population for the opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. By investing in digital skills training and certification, YEA and GDC are not only creating pathways to decent work but also fostering innovation and economic growth. Interested youth are encouraged to stay updated through official YEA and GDC channels for application details and programme timelines.
