Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Edem Agbana, has delivered a scathing critique of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing the Minority caucus in Parliament of turning the party into an inconsistent political entity. Speaking in an exclusive interview on TV3’s flagship morning program, 'NEW DAY', the lawmaker argued that the NPP's frequent contradictions on key national matters have severely undermined its credibility as an opposition force.
During the broadcast, Agbana highlighted the party’s inconsistent positions on critical parliamentary debates and public issues, describing their posture as lacking clear ideological conviction. He noted that the Minority caucus continuously shifts its narrative whenever challenged with facts, demonstrating a clear pattern of political expediency over principled advocacy. According to him, this self-serving strategy has exposed the leadership of the Minority as opportunistic and disconnected from the truth.
The Ketu North MP further asserted that effective opposition requires rigorous, consistent, and intelligent scrutiny rather than public posturing and propaganda. He emphasized that the NPP's constant changing of stances on national affairs signals internal disarray and a desperate attempt to manipulate public perception. Hon. Agbana urged the Minority leadership to elevate their approach to parliamentary business, warning that their current trajectory only reduces their standing in the eyes of discerning Ghanaians.
Concluding his engagement, Agbana called on the NPP Minority caucus to abandon what he termed "ridiculous flip-flopping" and engage in constructive national dialogue. He reiterated that the ruling government remains committed to transparency and governance centered on facts, urging the opposition to present well-researched policy alternatives instead of shifting figures and changing narratives to suit immediate political ends.
