2 min read

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta, Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, has teamed up with the Keta Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to hand over a massive consignment of 4,050 pieces of school furniture to the Keta Municipal Education Directorate. The intervention is strategically designed to eliminate the long-standing infrastructural deficit of furniture in basic schools, ensuring that students no longer have to sit on bare floors or share limited desks.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, local leaders emphasized that qualitative education begins with a conducive and comfortable learning environment. The newly acquired furniture comprising desks and other essential seating units is slated for immediate distribution to beneficiary public basic schools across the municipality that are most in need. This collaborative effort between the legislature and the local government authority highlights a shared commitment to prioritizing human capital development and youth empowerment in the Keta constituency.

Education officials and heads of schools who received the items expressed profound gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that the gesture will go a long way toward improving discipline, concentration, and academic performance in classrooms. For years, inadequate furniture has remained a persistent challenge plaguing various schools in the district, making this massive delivery a landmark relief for both teachers and pupils alike.

Beyond the distribution of the 4,050 furniture pieces, stakeholders used the platform to deliberate on other pressing educational needs in the area, including the reinforcement of teaching staff numbers and infrastructural maintenance. Hon. Gakpey and the MCE reaffirmed their unwavering dedication to working hand-in-hand with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and community leaders to continuously transform the face of education in Keta and secure a brighter future for the younger generation.
