Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor Sympathizes with Flood Victims in South Tongu

Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor has expressed deep concern over the devastating flooding triggered by heavy rainfall in parts of the South Tongu Constituency. The floods have severely impacted Sogakope and surrounding communities including Dabala, Sokpoe, Tefle, and Kpotame, affecting homes, properties, farmlands, and livelihoods. In a heartfelt message, the Member of Parliament extended his sympathies to all families, individuals, and businesses affected by the disaster, acknowledging the significant distress and hardship they are currently facing.

Over the weekend, Hon. Lukutor visited several flood-affected communities, including Dordoekope, Agbadzakope, and Adutor Electoral Areas, to personally assess the situation on the ground. During these engagements, he interacted with residents and discussed practical measures to address the recurring flooding problem. He emphasized the urgent need for the construction of proper drains, strict adherence to planning schemes, and full compliance with building codes to prevent future occurrences.

The lawmaker urged residents to prioritize their safety by heeding directives from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other relevant authorities. He advised against any activities that obstruct drainage channels and natural waterways, and encouraged those in vulnerable areas to temporarily relocate to safer higher grounds with family members until the flooding subsides.

Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with the South Tongu District Assembly, NADMO, traditional authorities, and all stakeholders to provide immediate support to affected residents and implement long-term solutions to the flooding challenge.
