Hon Maxwell Kwame Lukutor (MP, South)

South Tongu Member of Parliament Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor has announced that 25 communities in the constituency have been approved under the Self-Help Electrification Programme (SHEP) of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition. This makes South Tongu the constituency with the highest number of approved communities in the entire Volta Region.

The milestone follows the MP’s submission of 83 underserved communities to the Ministry in September 2025. Through sustained engagements alongside the District Chief Executive, the communities were successfully included in the national Big Push electrification programme.

The approved communities are Hete, Bodzito, Dasakoe, Doglokpo, Gborkpe, Larve New Town, Ahorgbakope/Podakope, Agordome Kpotame, Adzikpoe, Kome-Adjiekope, Fieborkope, Patukope, Gbadagbatorkor, Godzanu, Gbokpe/Votenu/Nyakpedukope/Todome, Akamkope, Amusukope, Tordzikor, Ahlihakpoe No. 3/No. 4, Dekpevie New Town, Kpodzinyanor, Adzralakope, Agbakope Kofeyea and Agbelitime.

Implementation is already underway. Engineers and contractors are currently carrying out technical assessments, mapping and route planning ahead of the construction phase.

Hon. Lukutor, together with District Chief Executive Hon. Victoria Dzeklo and the technical team, recently conducted a field inspection to monitor progress and engage residents in the beneficiary communities.
