Roads Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza

Speaking on Oyerepa TV’s Breakfast Time show, Minister for Roads and Highways Kwame Governs Agbodza launched a scathing attack on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over what he described as deliberate neglect of crucial infrastructure in the Ashanti Region. Agbodza argued that despite the region being widely recognized as the political stronghold and "heart" of the ruling party, the previous administration failed to prioritize projects that directly benefited Asanteman.

Agbodza specifically highlighted the stalled Suame Interchange project in Kumasi, revealing that work came to a halt simply because a GH¢30 million debt owed to the contractor went unpaid. He stressed that a project of such economic and structural importance to the region’s transport network should never have been left to stall over a sum that was entirely within the government's power to settle.

Drawings a sharp contrast in spending priorities, the Roads Minister criticized the NPP for misallocating state resources toward non-essential initiatives elsewhere. He pointed out that while the Suame Interchange sat dormant for lack of GH¢30 million, close to $100 million was spent in Accra merely to "dig a hole" for the National Cathedral project, illustrating what he termed a severe misplacement of national focus.

Concluding his remarks, Agbodza stated firmly that the NPP’s actions demonstrate a profound lack of fairness to the people of the Ashanti Region. He assured viewers that the current administration is committed to reversing this trend by systematically addressing stalled infrastructure projects across Asanteman and ensuring state funds are directed where they deliver real value to citizens.
