Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson (Finance Minister)

Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has pledged that the upcoming 2027 Budget Statement will outline concrete strategies to translate the nation’s macroeconomic recovery into tangible benefits for citizens. Addressing the public ahead of the presentation, Dr. Forson emphasized that the next phase of the government's economic agenda must directly impact everyday lives by driving job creation, boosting household incomes, and fostering business growth across the country.

Acknowledging the hard choices and sacrifices made by Ghanaians during the stabilization period, the Finance Minister stressed that fiscal recovery is only the beginning. He noted that macroeconomic stability must serve as a platform for economic transformation rather than an end in itself. The forthcoming budget strategy aims to build on recent gains to ensure that the broader economy reflects the improvements seen in headline indicators.

Central to the 2027 Economic Policy is a focus on expanding employment opportunities, particularly for young people, while bolstering agricultural productivity to improve rural livelihoods. The government intends to roll out targeted measures aimed at giving domestic enterprises the headroom needed to expand, innovate, and hire. By strengthening private-sector support, the administration seeks to create an environment where local businesses can thrive as primary engines of sustainable growth.

The policy outline will be presented during the official reading in Parliament, where Dr. Forson is expected to detail key policy initiatives, spending priorities, and structural reforms designed to convert national recovery into shared prosperity. Stakeholders across the business community, labor unions, and broader public eagerly await the presentation for clear signals on tax policy, industrial support, and strategic investments for the coming fiscal year.
