The Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) met with the National Sports Authority (NSA) on Thursday, September 25, to seek clarification over reports that the Ho Sports Stadium has been booked for the 2026 Shatta Fest concert. Led by VRFA Chairman Daniel Agbogah, alongside Secretary Michael Promise Ahiagba, Executive Committee member Muntala, and member Oxygen, the football governing body expressed strong dissatisfaction regarding the lack of prior consultation before the facility was earmarked for the show, which is expected to be headlined by dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.
Central to the RFA’s concerns is the potential destruction of the playing surface, which could disrupt the upcoming season and force regional clubs to relocate. Representatives of Division One League side Home Stars FC joined the meeting to emphasize the risks involved, pointing out that any serious damage to the pitch would severely affect the home fixtures of both Home Stars FC and Nukunu FC in their respective league campaigns.
In response, the Volta Regional Administrator of the NSA, Madam Jennifer Kokumah, clarified her office's stance while addressing the delegation. She explained that the venue application was initially presented to the NSA as an MTN-organized event and assured the RFA leadership that explicit guarantees were given that the main playing pitch would remain strictly off-limits during the concert to prevent any turf damage.
