Korle-Bu Undergoes Major Upgrade to Car Parks and Walkways

Visitors, patients, and staff at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) will soon experience a significantly upgraded environment as major rehabilitation and paving works gain momentum across the grounds. Work is currently underway to overhaul the car parks and walkways stretching from the frontage of the Eye Centre to the Central Stores area, alongside key pedestrian paths throughout the clinical zones. Designed to improve accessibility, rehabilitate deteriorating parking surfaces, and enhance the hospital's overall aesthetic, these ongoing upgrades are set to minimize the daily mobility challenges previously faced when navigating the facility.

​To ensure long-term ease of movement across the campus, Hospital Management has also outlined additional critical infrastructure developments. Plans are already in motion to rehabilitate the road leading to the Central Laboratory and reconstruct its adjoining car park. Additionally, construction is in full swing for a new dedicated walkway connecting the Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence directly to the Eye Centre, creating a safer, seamless, and far more convenient route for patients and healthcare workers moving between specialized departments.

​These current developments build directly on recent success stories across the hospital's expansive grounds. Similar structural improvement works have already been successfully completed along the heavily trafficked route connecting the Accident Centre to the Medical Block, proving the effectiveness of the ongoing campus-wide revitalisation strategy. Each completed stretch brings the institution closer to a modern, fully interconnected healthcare environment built around user safety and convenience.

​Recognizing that active construction can briefly disrupt daily routines, Hospital Management offers a sincere apology to the public, staff, and visitors for any temporary inconveniences caused while heavy work is underway, noting that the project is expected to be completed soon.
