Political Parties Must Prepare Leaders to Govern, Not Just Win Elections-Asiedu Nketiah

​Speaking on behalf of the African Political Parties Initiative at the inaugural Inter-Continental Dialogue among Political Parties in Seoul, South Korea, General Johnson Asiedu Nketiah highlighted a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of effective governance.

​He asserted that the success of any government depends heavily on internal party processes well before candidates assume public office. Political parties establish the criteria for leadership and determine the standards of conduct expected from their members. Asiedu Nketiah cautioned that while parties may excel at winning elections, failing to adequately prepare leaders for governance creates significant challenges once in power.

​He concluded that political organizations must look beyond electoral victory and focus on building the capacity to govern effectively and serve the public interest.
