No Evidence Links Government or NDC Officials to Cocaine Probe - Kwakye Ofosu

​Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed claims implicating government officials or members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in ongoing cocaine trafficking investigations. Speaking during an interview on Channel One TV, Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that no evidence has been presented to connect any public official or party member to the illicit trade. He cautioned the public and media against speculation and rumor-mongering, urging everyone to allow security agencies to conduct their investigations based on verifiable facts.

​The minister’s comments follow a high-level meeting convened by President John Dramani Mahama with security chiefs to address recent major drug busts linked to Ghana. Among these was the notable interception by French customs authorities of nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine hidden inside a container shipped from a Ghanaian port. Addressing the arrests made so far, Kwakye Ofosu confirmed that none of the 10 suspects currently in custody are associated with the government, reinforcing that the security agencies are actively working to trace all responsible parties.

​Stressing the administration's stance on accountability, Kwakye Ofosu assured that political affiliation will not serve as a shield for anyone found culpable. He stated that if any high-ranking official or party member were implicated, they would face the full weight of Ghanaian law like any other citizen. The primary objective, he reiterated, remains establishing full accountability and tightening security to prevent Ghana's borders from being exploited for international narcotics trafficking.
