Hon. Agbeve and Hon. Klu Odikro Engage DACF Administrator to Address Key Development Challenges in Agotime-Ziope

The Member of Parliament for Agotime-Ziope Constituency, Hon. Charles Agbeve, alongside the District Chief Executive for Agotime-Ziope, Hon. Alfred Klu Odikro, recently paid a joint working visit to the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Mr. Yamson, at his office in Accra. The strategic engagement was aimed at highlighting critical socio-economic hurdles facing the constituency and seeking the Administrator’s counsel and institutional support to accelerate regional development.

Central to the discussions was the urgent water supply challenge severely affecting the district capital, Kpetoe, as well as several surrounding communities. Hon. Agbeve and Hon. Odikro emphasized that resolving this infrastructure deficit is vital to improving local sanitation, health outcomes, and overall quality of life. The delegation urged the DACF Secretariat to assist in exploring sustainable solutions to bring long-term relief to the affected residents.

Additionally, the leadership raised pressing concerns regarding the demographic, educational, and health datasets currently utilized to calculate the district’s allocation from the Common Fund. Pointing out significant data discrepancies, the MP and DCE argued that the existing computations underrepresent the actual population size and institutional needs of Agotime-Ziope. Correcting these metrics is essential to ensuring the district receives its fair share of national resources to fund basic public services adequately.

The bilateral meeting also focused on securing support for innovative green and sustainable development projects tailored to the district's long-term environmental and economic resilience. The discussions ended on a very positive note, with Mr. Yamson providing valuable insights, practical strategies, and guidance to help the district navigate these challenges effectively. The visit underscores the ongoing commitment of Agotime-Ziope's leadership to collaborate across government tiers for the advancement of their people.
