Her Royal Majesty Nana Abena Etruba I the Benkumhene of Gomoa Amanful in Ghana’s Central Region made her first-ever symbolic visit to her ancestral home of Alakple on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Celebrated globally as a double chartered accountant, international corporate leader, and modern-day "Woman King," Nana Etruba I holds esteemed royal offices within the Gomoa Assin Traditional Area. Yet, while her lineage extends through the Nugbemado and Ziddah families with direct royal ties to Dzelukope-Keta and Anyako it is the ancient town of Alakple, one of the oldest settlements in Anlo land, that holds her deepest ancestral roots.

The atmosphere in Alakple was electric with tradition and Reverence as the town prepared to welcome its distinguished daughter. Upon her arrival at the entrance of the town, Nana Etruba I was greeted by the Dufia’s royal staff, linguist, and council of elders. A ceremonial 14-gun salute echoed through the air, officially marking the commencement of a grand royal procession through the heart of the town toward the Dufia’s Palace. The rhythmic displays and dignified reception heralded a powerful moment of cultural heritage and reunion.

At the palace, the royal entourage was received with warmth and elevated traditional honors. Togbi Amey Zegu II, Dufia of Alakple, alongside Nyiglanua Nyatepe Nazah Kudese, Togbiwo, Mamawo, Dumegawo, and Nyornudadawo, gathered to extend a heartfelt welcome. Also present to witness the historic occasion were representatives from the National Management Council of the Alakple Development Association and enthusiastic townspeople, all united in celebrating a leader who bridges the worlds of corporate leadership and African traditional authority.

The landmark visit reached its emotional climax as Togbi Amey Zegu II and the elders presented a special symbolic gift to Her Royal Majesty on behalf of the entire community. The presentation served as a sacred sign of acceptance, affection, and pride, officially cementing the bond between Alakple and its returned daughter. For Nana Abena Etruba I, the journey was more than a ceremonial visit; it was a profound spiritual return to the lands of her forebears, reinforcing her enduring commitment to lineage, culture, and community advancement.
