1 min read

Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Dzifa Abla Gomashie, has officially inaugurated the Steering Committee for the Ghana-Korea Heritage Project. This committee is tasked with overseeing a strategic, five-year initiative dedicated to protecting Ghana’s historical sites and building their resilience against climate change.

Running through 2030 and beyond, the initiative focuses on climate-risk mapping, digital surveying, 3D modeling, joint research, capacity building, and community engagement. Modern monitoring technologies will also be integrated into local preservation practices.

As part of the collaboration, South Korea is supplying specialized technical equipment, including high-resolution drones, 3D scanners, digital microscopes, thermal imaging cameras, and precise GPS survey tools. These technologies will strengthen Ghana's ability to scientifically evaluate, document, and conserve its historical structures.

Beyond technical advancements, the long-term partnership aims to reinforce cultural bonds between Ghana and South Korea while establishing a sustainable, tech-driven framework for heritage management for generations to come.
