A Grand Gathering of Royalty: Chiefs Converge on Ho for Asogli Teza 2026

2 min read

The historic town of Ho erupted in a vibrant display of culture, heritage, and royal splendor as traditional rulers from far and near gathered to join Togbe Afede XIV and the people of the Asogli State in celebrating Teza 2026. Clad in richly woven Kente cloths, ornate gold ornaments, and symbolic regalia, Paramount Chiefs, sub-chiefs, and distinguished traditional leaders processed through the streets, creating a breathtaking spectacle that honored the deep roots of Ewe tradition and African royalty.

This year’s Yam Festival, celebrated under the banner of unity, peace, and sustainable development, served as a powerful rallying point for traditional leadership across Ghana and the broader West African sub-region. The arrival of visiting delegations welcomed with the thunderous booming of traditional drums, the resonant blast of horns, and energetic performances by cultural troupes underscored the enduring bonds between traditional authorities and their shared commitment to driving community development.

Addressing the majestic gathering at the grand durbar, Togbe Afede XIV emphasized the critical role of chieftaincy in modern governance and socioeconomic progress. He highlighted that Teza is not merely an occasion to give thanks for a bountiful harvest, but a sacred platform to foster unity, inspire youth empowerment, and spur investment into the Volta Region. Visiting chiefs echoed these sentiments, commending the Asogli State for preserving its rich cultural identity while championing forward-thinking development initiatives.

As the day folded into night, the atmosphere in Ho remained electric, filled with singing, traditional dancing, and vibrant social gatherings that brought together royals, locals, and tourists alike. Teza 2026 once again proved to be more than a festival it stood as a triumphant testament to the resilience of Ghanaian culture, the strength of traditional leadership, and a shared vision for a prosperous future.
