The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has commended the chiefs and people of Dzodze for their unwavering unity and commitment to community development. Speaking at the annual De Za (Oil Palm) Festival, the Minister emphasized the vital role traditional celebrations play in preserving cultural knowledge, strengthening communal bonds, and driving regional socio-economic growth.
The colorful festival brought together traditional authorities, government officials, and dignitaries from across the region to celebrate Dzodze’s rich cultural heritage. Joining Hon. James Gunu at the event were the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Rev. Martin Amenaki, demonstrating strong government support for the traditional area’s growth agenda.
Highlighting regional progress, Hon. Gunu revealed that over 700 development projects are currently completed or underway across the Volta Region. He reaffirmed the government’s determination to expand infrastructure, enhance basic amenities, and uplift the living standards of residents throughout the municipality and beyond.
Adding to the government’s commendation, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana praised local traditional leaders for fostering harmony in Dzodze. He outlined ongoing development initiatives targeted at transforming the area, notably highlighting progress under the flagship Big Push road project, which aims to improve transportation networks and stimulate commerce.
To directly support local agriculture and back the theme of the festival, the Regional Minister donated 10,000 high-yield oil palm seedlings to establish plantations in Dzodze, alongside a substantial cash donation toward the festival’s organization. The event concluded with renewed commitments from both traditional and political leaders to collaborate on key development priorities for the community.
