The wheelchair basketball competition is a special basketball tournament organised every year by the Sports Ministry specially for physically challenged persons in Ghana. The competition focuses on inclusiveness and equal opportunity for all classes of persons.
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has pledged his support for the successful organization of the 6th Inter-Regional Wheelchair Basketball Competition following a courtesy call by the leadership of the Volta Para Sports and Mobility Empowerment Association (VPMEA), led by its President, Madam Betty Gharbin.
The delegation briefed the Minister on the competition, scheduled for 14th–17th August 2026 at the Ho Sports Stadium, which seeks to promote inclusion and empower persons with disabilities through sports.
Hon. James Gunu commended the Association for its efforts and reaffirmed the Regional Coordinating Council's commitment to inclusive development. To support the tournament, he donated GH¢10,000, bags of rice, and facilitated transport and security arrangements for the event. He wished all participating teams a successful and peaceful competition.
