Volta Regional Minister Launches Three-Day Spatial Planning Workshop to Combat Coastal Erosion in Ketu South, Keta, and Anloga

Efforts to tackle coastal erosion and climate change along the Volta Region’s coastline have gained strong momentum following the opening of a three-day validation workshop in the region. Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu welcomed key stakeholders to review the Situational Report for the preparation of Spatial Development Frameworks (SDFs) covering the Ketu South, Keta, and Anloga districts.

​Supported by the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority (LUSPA) through the West Africa Coastal Areas Resilience Investment Project (WACA ResIP 2), the session aims to establish a coordinated spatial strategy to guide future infrastructure, public policy, and private investment across coastal communities.

 By developing deliberate and sustainable plans, the initiative seeks to build long-term resilience against recurring tidal waves and environmental degradation. Hon. James Gunu expressed his appreciation to LUSPA, technical experts, government agencies, and community leaders for their dedicated involvement in shaping a secure future for the coastline.
