1 min read

The Volta Regional Representative on the Council of State, H.E. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, recently visited the University of North Texas in the United States as a guest speaker to engage with students on the richness of Ghanaian traditional music and dance.

Speaking to the audience, H.E. Kwamigah-Atokple explored the history, cultural relevance, and economic prospects embedded in Ghana's traditional performing arts. He emphasized the traditional drum's historic role as a vital tool for sending messages, gathering community members, and protecting societies. He also challenged the students to identify innovative methods to preserve and commercialize African heritage in today's digital age.

The event also offered the Council of State member a platform to connect with Togbui Foli Amanyo III (Prof. Gideon Alorwoyie), a celebrated Ghanaian traditional musician and Professor of Percussion at the university, during one of his interactive teaching sessions.
