Tokokoe Shines as Host of Colourful NorDU Za Grand Durbar

The ten neighbouring communities that constitute the Norvisi Development Union (NorDU) – Atikpui, Avee, Hodzo, Hoe, Klave, Lume, Nyive, Shia, Tanyigbe, and Tokokoe – recently converged in a vibrant celebration to climax this year’s annual NorDU Za. The grand durbar, held in Tokokoe, brought together residents, traditional leaders, and stakeholders in a colourful display of unity and cultural pride. This annual gathering continues to strengthen bonds among the communities while serving as a vital platform for collective development initiatives.

This year’s event, hosted by Tokokoe, placed strong emphasis on advancing the proposed Vocational Centre project aimed at equipping the youth with practical, employable skills. Taking over hosting duties from Tanyigbe, which successfully organised last year’s celebrations, Tokokoe demonstrated excellent leadership and commitment to the union’s long-term vision. The focus on youth empowerment underscored the community’s determination to address local needs through sustainable development efforts.

A series of exciting and unifying activities set the stage for the grand durbar. These included keenly contested quiz competitions, thrilling sports events, a glamorous beauty pageant, and a successful fundraiser, all of which fostered healthy rivalry and deeper collaboration among the participating communities. The buildup not only entertained participants but also reinforced the spirit of togetherness that defines the NorDU family.
