The Interior Minister; Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has announced that from ₵50,000 to ₵100,000 is now entitled to the personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) instant insurance in cases of severe injury sustained in the line of duty.
According to the Minister, the initiative forms part of the government’s commitment to improving the welfare and protection of firefighters, who regularly put their lives at risk to save lives and property. It prioritize and value their lives ahead of mere service only.
The Minister noted that the insurance package is designed to provide immediate financial support to officers who suffer serious injuries while performing their official duties, ensuring that they and their families receive timely assistance during difficult periods.
The announcement has been welcomed as a significant step towards recognising the sacrifices of fire service personnel and strengthening support for Ghana’s emergency responders.
