Roberta Dzani Mawunyo, popularly known in the Ghanaian entertainment industry as Gabbyszn who has rebranded to ERTA is an emerging singer, songwriter, and media personality whose passion for music and entertainment has steadily earned her recognition. Born on 6th January 2000, she hails from Kpedze in Ghana’s Volta Region, where she nurtured the dreams that have shaped her journey into the music and media landscape. Through hard work, determination, and consistency, ERTA has established herself as one of the promising young female talents in the industry.

ERTA is the last four letters of her name Roberta.

ERTA’s musical journey began at a very young age in the Apostolic Church, where she was raised. Surrounded by a rich culture of worship and music, she developed her vocal abilities by actively participating in church activities. She listened to music passionately, learned to play the church piano, and later became a committed member of the church choir, dedicating her talent to serving God. These early experiences laid a strong foundation for her musical career and influenced her distinctive sound.

Today, ERTA has carved a niche for herself in the genres of Afropop, R&B, and Afrobeats, blending soulful vocals with contemporary African rhythms. Her growing reputation has been strengthened through notable collaborations, including her feature on Sherifa Gunu’s 2020 song Sick World. She also gained widespread online attention after recording a cover of Likor by KiDi featuring Stonebwoy, which was reposted by KiDi on X (formerly Twitter), exposing her talent to a broader audience and earning admiration from music lovers.

Before stepping fully into the spotlight as a recording artiste, ERTA built an impressive career behind the scenes in Ghana’s entertainment industry. She served as a road manager and public relations officer at BeenieWords while also working as the personal assistant to celebrated rapper Edem Goget’em. In addition, she handled public relations for Sherifa Gunu and collaborated with several other artistes, gaining invaluable industry experience that continues to shape her professional career.

Beyond music, ERTA has also excelled in the media industry. She attended Kpede Senior High School before refining her broadcasting skills at Rabodef Radio Academy. In 2021, she showcased her presenting abilities as an MC for the High School Hype programme. Following her media studies, she interned at GHOne TV and later worked with Bryt TV, Asaase Radio, YFM Accra, and High School Hype TV. Her hosting credentials further expanded when she co-hosted an event alongside Bola Ray for the daughter of former Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at IFFAC. She has also hosted Mother’s Day Hangout at Coco Vanilla, co-hosted Nigerian singer CKay’s “Boyfriend Tour,” and participated in Sallafest in Accra High Schools.

Her dedication and versatility have earned praise from respected figures within the entertainment industry. Celebrated media personality Elorm Beenie, CEO of BeenieWords and former public relations strategist for Samini’s High Grade Family and Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music Group, has publicly commended her talent and professionalism. She has also received recognition from Nigerian and Grammy-nominated producer Bankulli, one of the key brains behind Shatta Wale’s Konekt album project, who described ERTA as a highly talented artiste with immense potential.

ERTA’s growing influence has been reflected in several award nominations and career milestones. She has received nominations for the Global Music Awards South Africa, Boomplay Africa Spotlight, and the Accra Music and Arts Awards Festival, where she was recognized in the Artiste of the Year category. In July 2023, she achieved another significant milestone with the launch of her debut extended play (EP), Without A MAP (WAM). The project attracted the attention of bloggers, media personalities, and music enthusiasts, further cementing her place as one of Ghana’s exciting emerging talents with a promising future in African music.
