Ghana's Education Minister; Hon. Haruna Idrisu joins His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, traditional leaders, and the good people of Dagbon for the historic installation of the first surviving son of the late Dagbon King; Kampakuya Naa Yakubu Abukari as Regent of Dagbon.
The Dagbon tradition demands a new King be installed in a case where the reigning has passed on. In the past weeks, the reigning Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II has sadly passed on, sparking the need to install a new King before his burial. On 31st July, 2026, the occasion have
been graced, drawing traditional leaders, political leaders and people from all around Ghana.
Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Abukari's successful installation to the Dagbon Kingdom is one that pays respect and honour to the norms and traditions to the people of Dagbon. The education Minister recount his well wishes to the newly installed King, stating that he pray that Allah grants the successor wisdom, strength, and fortitude to lead in the noble footsteps of Naa Gbewaa
