The Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth and Sports has paid a working visit to the headquarters of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) for a strategic engagement with its management and staff. Led by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey, and Ranking Member, Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the delegation sought to evaluate the Agency’s recent operations and reinforce legislative support for youth development initiatives across Ghana.
During the session, the Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Mr. Malik Basintale, presented the Agency’s comprehensive 2026 Performance Report. The presentation detailed key operational milestones, progress in job creation programs, and the overall impact of YEA’s initiatives on Ghanaian youth over the past year. Mr. Basintale also candidly addressed ongoing challenges confronting the Agency, highlighting operational hurdles and specific areas where Parliamentary intervention and resource allocation are critically needed.
Beyond reviewing past performance, the CEO outlined the Agency’s strategic priorities and key expectations from the Select Committee moving forward. He emphasized that sustained collaboration with Parliament is essential to scaling impact, refining policy frameworks, and ensuring the long-term viability of YEA’s diverse employment and skills-training modules nationwide.
The visit concluded on a highly collaborative note, with both Committee members and YEA leadership reaffirming their commitment to accountability, transparency, and joint action. The productive dialogue established a clear pathway for stronger oversight and partnership as the Agency continues to execute its mandate of delivering sustainable employment opportunities for the nation's youth.
