The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has started a new national campaign to help young people in Ghana understand safe ways to work abroad. The campaign is part of the Labour Exchange Programme. It teaches the risks of illegal migration and shows the benefits of legal and regulated jobs overseas.
Key leaders joined the launch. These included the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, and the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo. Both ministers said the government wants to create good jobs and make sure labour migration happens through safe and legal channels.
The Chief Executive Officer of YEA spoke about the serious problems caused by illegal migration. He warned that it can lead to exploitation, human trafficking, and unsafe work. He said YEA remains ready to help young Ghanaians find proper jobs abroad through the Labour Exchange Programme so that migration stays safe and useful.
The campaign includes a nationwide roadshow to give people the right information. It works with partners such as GIZ, Absa Bank Ghana, the Ghana Immigration Service, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Together they aim to protect Ghana’s young workers and support safe migration.
