Realigning steps toward creating sustainable career pathways for Ghanaian youth, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Malik Basintale, recently led the official passing-out ceremony for the first batch of YEA Prison Service Assistants.
The ceremony marked the successful completion of a comprehensive refresher training course tailored for the beneficiaries. This exercise was specially designed to upgrade their skills and adequately prepare them for smooth absorption into the mainstream Ghana Prisons Service following the expiration of their initial two-year engagement under the Youth Employment Agency.
During the event, leadership emphasized that temporary job placements should serve as stepping stones rather than end destinations. The transition strategy reflects YEA’s renewed commitment to moving beyond short-term employment contracts, ensuring that young men and women who serve diligently under agency modules are given concrete opportunities to secure long-term, pensionable careers in the public sector.
With this pioneer cohort set to join the rank and file of the Ghana Prisons Service, the initiative underscores a strong collaborative effort between state agencies to tackle youth unemployment through structured training, institutional continuity, and permanent career development.
