The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has officially received and handed over critical flood relief items to Municipal and District Assemblies across the 12 flood-affected districts in the Volta Region. The items, supplied by the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), form part of the government’s immediate emergency response aimed at supporting communities devastated by recent floods and helping to ease the suffering of affected residents.
The handover ceremony took place at the forecourt of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council. The relief materials were presented by the Volta Regional Director of NADMO, Mr. Pascal Agbagba. This coordinated effort underscores NADMO’s swift action in mobilizing resources to reach those impacted by the floods as quickly as possible.
In attendance were several dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Hon. Edem Kofi Kpotosu; the Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Mawutor Agbavitor; Municipal and District Chief Executives; and Municipal and District NADMO Directors. Speaking at the event, Hon. James Gunu praised NADMO for its prompt response and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the relief items are distributed promptly, transparently, and equitably to all affected households.
The Regional Minister further appealed to individuals, corporate bodies, faith-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to complement government efforts. He encouraged donations and other forms of assistance to bolster the ongoing humanitarian response and support affected families in their recovery process.
The Volta Regional Coordinating Council remains fully committed to coordinating these relief efforts in collaboration with all stakeholders. This collective approach aims to ensure that no affected community is left behind as the region works towards full recovery from the devastating impact of the floods.
