Accra Ridge Church celebrated nine decades of impactful service as Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang joined the congregation for its 90th Anniversary Lecture. Held under the theme “Repositioning the Church for National Transformation: Faith, Education and Holistic Renewal in Ghana,” the event highlighted the church’s longstanding contributions to national development. The Vice President used the occasion to reflect on the vital role of faith-based institutions in shaping Ghana’s social and moral landscape.
The Vice President paid tribute to the pioneering efforts of churches in building schools, hospitals, and community support systems long before many public institutions existed. These faith-driven initiatives have continued to serve generations of Ghanaians across education, healthcare, social welfare, peacebuilding, and moral formation. She emphasized how such institutions laid essential foundations for the nation’s growth and continue to address needs in critical areas of society.
Opoku-Agyemang called for stronger partnerships between the Church and public institutions, particularly in underserved communities. She identified quality education, healthcare delivery, youth development, rehabilitation programmes, and support for vulnerable groups as key sectors where collaborative efforts could drive meaningful progress. According to the Vice President, such synergy is essential for holistic national renewal and sustainable development.
She further challenged the Church to maintain its position as a principled moral voice in society. The Vice President urged consistent advocacy against corruption, injustice, abuse, environmental degradation, and any actions that erode public trust. She noted that the Church’s influence is most effective when rooted in truth, fairness, compassion, and dedicated service to humanity.
In conclusion, the Vice President stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths and backgrounds, crediting Ghana’s stability to its tradition of unity and tolerance. She congratulated Accra Ridge Church on its milestone anniversary and encouraged continued collaboration with government and society to strengthen institutions, support vulnerable communities, and build a peaceful, prosperous, and values-driven nation.
