Police in the Upper West Region have dismantled a violent criminal network operating across the Wa West District and Wa Municipality.
A official press release issued by the Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Francis Yiribaare, confirmed that six suspects were apprehended after months of intelligence-driven, tactical police operations.
The six individuals named in connection with the operations are Amadu Moro (35), Adama Yussif (40), Nasiru Abdul Rahman (52), Iddrissu Adama (35), Korika Issaka (20), and Zakaria Brigi (21).
During the arrest operation, suspect Nasiru Abdul Rahman suffered injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Upper West Regional Hospital. His remains have been placed in the hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Initial findings directly tie Adama Yussif, Amadu Moro, and the deceased suspect to multiple armed raids in the enclave throughout the year, including attacks at Kpenateng Junction on August 1, 2026; Kulkpara-Dapoha on June 19; the Kpenateng area on May 23 and June 15; and the Piisi-Dapoha stretch on March 27, 2026.
Investigators estimate that the syndicate forcibly seized roughly GH¢22,070 in cash alongside an additional GH¢3,274 drained directly from victims' MoMo wallets. Law enforcement officers also recovered seven mobile phones from the suspects, which are currently undergoing forensic examination.
