UNFPA and UNICEF Launch Joint Field Visit to Volta Region to Advance Support for Adolescent Girls

​A joint delegation from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to kick off a three-day field assessment in the Volta Region. The collaborative mission focuses on evaluating the progress of ongoing developmental initiatives, strengthening inter-agency partnerships, and directly identifying key challenges that impact the protection, health, and empowerment of adolescent girls throughout the region.

​Warmly receiving the United Nations delegation on behalf of the Volta Regional Minister, the Chief Director of the VRCC, Alhaji Mohammed Avona Akape, expressed deep appreciation for the agencies' continued interventions. He reaffirmed the Council’s unyielding commitment to working alongside development partners to complement the central government’s strategy to improve the general well-being, education, and social safety networks available to young women in local communities.

​Over the course of the three-day monitoring tour, officials from both UNFPA and UNICEF, alongside local stakeholders, will engage with community leaders, service providers, and adolescent girls themselves across selected districts. The insights gathered during these field interactions are expected to refine regional strategies, address implementation gaps, and maximize the impact of future social protection and youth development programs in the Volta Region.
