UAE Extends GHC12M+ Humanitarian Aid to Victims of Ghana’s June 29 Floods

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has delivered over GH₵12 million in critical relief supplies to aid Ghanaian families and communities devastated by the recent June 29 flood disaster.

​Handed over at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) headquarters in Accra, the relief package includes essential provisions such as rice, general food supplies, clean drinking water, warm blankets, and sleeping mattresses. Following the official handover, a ceremonial distribution took place in the Circle area to immediately assist nearby flood victims.

​To help stimulate local commerce, all donated goods were sourced directly within Ghana, ensuring the humanitarian gesture also provides an economic boost to domestic businesses.

​The UAE’s targeted intervention directly reflects the findings of a joint Rapid Needs Assessment executed alongside NADMO and key humanitarian agencies. The survey revealed that 93% of impacted communities prioritized urgent food assistance, closely followed by clean water, mattresses, and blankets.

​This relief initiative highlights the strong bilateral ties between Ghana and the UAE, directly supporting state-led efforts to stabilize affected households and deliver immediate relief.

​Speaking at the event, Mr. Seidu Issifu Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability at the Office of the President noted that President John Dramani Mahama established the Climate Emergency Resource Mobilisation Track to rally international support for disaster response and long-term climate resilience.

​"Today, we witness the tangible impact of that vision," Mr. Issifu stated, praising the UAE's prompt support as a testament to the enduring alliance between the two nations.
