Tomato prices across the country are expected to fall significantly in the coming weeks as local farmers begin harvesting their produce, according to Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture John Dumelo.
To ensure a steady supply year-round, the government is preparing for extensive dry-season tomato farming running from December 2026 through June 2027. Land clearing for this initiative is already underway, primarily in Northern Ghana.
To support the upcoming dry-season cultivation and prevent future supply shortages, farmers have been provided with solar-powered boreholes and irrigation equipment.
