South Tongu Empowers Local Farmers With Subsidised Fertilizer Distribution

1 min read

In a collaborative effort to bolster regional food security, the South Tongu District Assembly alongside Member of Parliament Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor and the District Department of Agriculturehas successfully rolled out its government-subsidized fertilizer initiative for the current farming season.

To ensure transparency, equity, and maximum efficiency, the distribution was strictly channeled through registered Farmer-Based Organizations (FBOs) across the district. By working directly with recognized farmer cooperatives, the team prevented logistical delays, delivering crucial supplies directly into the hands of local rice, maize, and vegetable growers right on schedule.

With the physical handover complete, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Victoria Dzeklo has directed District Agricultural Extension Officers to launch immediate field monitoring operations. Moving into the next phase, these officers will provide hands-on technical guidance, track crop growth, and assess the tangible impact of these inputs on seasonal harvests.

Kudos to the Member of Parliament, the District Director of Agriculture, field Extension Officers, and the dedicated executives of all participating FBOs for their exemplary teamwork in driving this exercise to a successful conclusion.
