The District Chief Executive for South Tongu, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, has officially welcomed contractor teams assigned to carry out the Self-Help Electrification Programme (SHEP) under the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, signaling the formal start of construction across the district.
During a courtesy call at the DCE’s office, the project delegation briefed local officials on implementation schedules and key technical requirements needed to extend power to selected beneficiary communities.
Receiving the team, Hon. Dzeklo highlighted that delivering reliable electricity to off-grid areas is vital for boosting local commerce, supporting school outcomes, and raising living conditions throughout South Tongu.
To keep work moving on schedule, the DCE assured the contractors of full institutional backing during the installation phase. "We must work as a team to make this project a success. My office will ensure seamless coordination between the contractors, our District Assembly's Works and Physical Planning units, local Assembly Members, and the MP so that every designated community gets connected," Hon. Dzeklo noted.
She also called on community leaders and residents in the affected areas to offer their full support to field technicians as physical installation gets underway across the district.
