The Savannah Regional Peace Council, headed by Rev. Fr. Lazarus Anyereh, visited the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Regional Command in Damongo on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The courtesy call served to introduce the Peace Council, gain insight into the operations of the Regional Command, and discuss strategic partnerships aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence across the region.
Welcoming the delegation, the Acting Regional Commander, DOI Alhassan Abubakari, reaffirmed the GNFS's commitment to supporting peacebuilding initiatives through proactive fire prevention, public sensitization, rescue missions, and disaster response. Pointing to the region's wide coverage area, he also appealed for additional resources, specifically requesting a new fire station or fire tender to boost operational efficiency.
Rev. Fr. Anyereh emphasized that the Peace Council remains dedicated to preventing disputes and cultivating lasting peace in local communities. He expressed a strong commitment to collaborating with the GNFS to advance their mutual objectives.
