Police Arrest Three Suspects Over Kidnap and Murder of 33-Year-Old Nana Yaw Kyere

​The Ghana Police Service has apprehended three suspects in connection with the horrific kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on September 22, 2026. The arrests were carried out by officers from the Missing Persons Unit following intense investigative work into the victim's sudden disappearance. The prime suspects have been identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai. 

​According to preliminary police findings, Nana Yaw Kyere left his Kokomlemle residence in Accra on September 19, 2026, driving his Honda Civic vehicle, but failed to return home. Investigations uncovered that the victim was lured to suspect Philip Tefe’s residence in Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams. Upon arrival, a confrontation ensued during which Philip Tefe physically attacked the victim with a metallic object, inflicting severe injuries. The victim was subsequently moved into another room, left unattended, and succumbed to his injuries shortly after. 

​In a gruesome attempt to conceal the crime, the victim's body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle on September 20, 2026, to a secluded area near the Accra-Tema Motorway. There, the perpetrators dumped the body in a bush and set it ablaze. On September 21, the partially burnt body was discovered around Community 18, and on September 24, 2026, the victim’s biological mother and uncle formally identified his remains at the Police Hospital morgue. 

​Further police operations led to the retrieval of the victim’s stolen iPhone 12, which Philip Tefe had reportedly sold for GH¢100.00 to a buyer named Sunday Omeje, who has since been cautioned and detained for dishonestly receiving stolen property. Meanwhile, suspect Josiah Obodai was arrested for his role in disposing of the body using his father's Kia Morning vehicle, which has now been impounded as evidence. All three primary suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to determine if additional accomplices were involved before bringing them to court.
